Free Trading Journal with CSV Import & Export

Record closed trades, include costs, review risk multiples and closed-balance drawdown. Optional browser saving and portable CSV backups. No sign-up.

Saved resources

Keep a record you can inspect.

Enter closed trades in one account currency. Separate the gross result from additional costs and record the cash risk planned before entry. The journal calculates net outcomes; it does not connect to a broker or verify a trading record.

Account assumptions
One currency for every amount. Changing this label does not convert existing trades.
Balance before the first recorded trade. Deposits and withdrawals are not modelled.

Your device, your choice.

Trades stay in this page until you choose to save. Optional saving stores financial records in this browser on this device. Browser data can be cleared; keep CSV backups. Avoid saving on a shared device.

Removing the saved copy keeps the current working trades until you leave or clear the page. Privacy information.

Add a closed trade
Letters, numbers, /, :, ., _ or -. No account identifiers.
Signed amount before the additional costs entered here. A loss is negative.
Positive charges to subtract. Do not subtract spread twice if it is already reflected in your result.
A positive amount recorded before entry. Net result divided by this amount gives realised R.
Up to 500 characters. Avoid personal or sensitive account information.

All three amounts use USD.

Your recorded results

Closed-trade balance only, ordered by close date and then entry order for ties. This excludes open-position equity, deposits and withdrawals. Maximum drawdown amount and percentage are calculated separately and can occur at different peaks.

Closed trades

No trades recorded. Add a trade or import your own CSV.

Import a CSV backup

Maximum 1,000 trades and 1 MiB. The file is read locally. Preview it before choosing to append or replace; invalid rows reject the whole import.

date,symbol,direction,gross,costs,risk,notes

Dates use YYYY-MM-DD; direction is long or short. Decimals use a point. CSV does not contain account settings: confirm the currency and starting balance separately. Imports understand this journal’s protective apostrophe escaping; other spreadsheet exports may need adjustment.

What the statistics mean.

Net result = gross result − additional costs. A hypothetical gross gain of 110 with 10 of costs and 50 of planned risk gives a net gain of 100 and realised R of +2. A gross loss of 40 with 10 of costs gives −50 net and −1R. All amounts must use the same currency.

Win rate counts strictly positive net trades divided by all recorded trades, including breakeven trades. Profit factor is total positive net results divided by the absolute total of negative net results; without any losses it is not defined. Average R is the arithmetic average of each trade’s net result divided by its own planned cash risk.

For a starting balance of 1,000, closed net results of +100, −50 and −150 create balances of 1,100, 1,050 and 900. The maximum closed-balance decline is 200 from the 1,100 peak, or 18.18%. Intra-trade losses could have been larger. Missing trades, changing risk, costs and inconsistent records change the interpretation; these descriptive statistics do not establish a durable edge.

Make the review useful.

Record the plan before entry elsewhere, then compare the outcome against it. Separate execution mistakes from an ordinary losing trade. Export before major edits, check a sample against your account records and keep a consistent treatment of financing and commissions. See backtesting without hindsight, process-focused trading reviews and drawdown and recovery calculations.
